METHOD FOR RECOVERING RUTHENIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover ruthenium at an excellent recovery rate from a solid in which a ruthenium compound is supported on a support.

SOLUTION: Ruthenium is recovered through the following steps (1) to (3): a step (1) where a solid in which a ruthenium compound is supported on a support is brought into contact with reducing gas to reduce the ruthenium compound; a step (2) where the solid obtained in the step (1) is cooled to≤250°C under a nonoxidizing-gas atmosphere; and a step (3) where the solid obtained in the step (2) is mixed with an oxidizing solution to dissolve the ruthenium in the solution.
