<p>Preservative food wrapping material is coated with calcium sorbate and a binding agent. To produce the coating liquid a solution or dispersion of the binding agent may be mixed with an aqueous solution of a calcium salt and a solution of a sorbate added or vice versa. Alternatively, the solution or dispersion may be mixed with a suspension of calcium sorbate or made into a paste with calcium sorbate and diluted. Suitable binding agents include water-soluble or water-swellable cellulose derivatives, alginates, hydrolysed starch derivatives, polyvinyl acetate or its copolymers, polyacrylic and polymethacrylic acid esters and their copolymers, polyvinyl alcohol, butadiene-styrene copolymers, polyisobutylene or chlorinated polyolefines of high molecular weight, drying oils and combinations thereof with natural or artificial resins, waxes, wax emulsions, resins, paraffins, fats or substances having fat-like or wax-like consistency.</p> |
