PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a dispersion strengthened alloy by which the alumina dispersion strengthened copper can be produced without using powder and can be produced without using a large rolling mill and extrusion machine, and which is applicable for the production of the dispersion strengthened alloy in the wide range, and to provide an electrode material for a resistance welding using the dispersion strengthened alloy. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the dispersion strengthened alloy, which is composed of a matrix metal and the dispersing oxide of a solute metal element having higher hardness than the matrix metal and lower oxide generating energy than the matrix metal dispersed in the matrix, oxygen is introduced into the matrix metal by inserting a hardened quality rotating tool into the matrix metal containing the solute metal element and performing the stirring, then the matrix metal is heated to cause an internal oxidation, thereby dispersing the oxide of the solute metal element into the matrix metal.
