A method for viewing a charged channel free according to AD(ADvertisement) view is provided to enable a user to view the charged channel free through an STB(Set-Top Box) by offering the user a free view time when the user views AD for a predetermined time. A user transmits a charged channel selection signal to a broadcasting station through an STB and a satellite. The broadcasting station displays AD to a TV screen. A timer of the STB counts an AD view time when the user views the AD. A processor of the STB determines whether the time set in the counter is identical with a current AD view time. A transmitter of the STB transmits a result to the broadcasting station when the time set in the counter is identical with the current AD view time. The broadcasting station broadcasts the AD and transmits the charged channel. The timer counts a charged channel view time when the charged channel is received. The processor determines whether the charged channel view time is identical with a predetermined free charged channel view time. The transmitter transmits the result to the broadcasting station when the charged channel view time is identical with a predetermined free charged channel view time. The broadcasting station stops transmitting the charged channel. |
