<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a battery system 4 compact which includes cooling liquid 51 to perform heat exchange with a battery pack 1. <P>SOLUTION: In the battery system 4 with the battery pack 1 housed in a battery box 3, the battery box 3 contains the cooling liquid 51 of performing the heat exchange with the battery pack 1, and a circulating path 21 and a circulating pump 23 introduce cooling gas 52 lighter in specific gravity than the cooling liquid 51 into the cooling liquid 51. The cooling gas 52 is lifted within the cooling liquid 51, thereby allowing the cooling liquid 51 to be agitated.
