<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user authentication technology for ensuring sufficient security only by inputting a simple password. <P>SOLUTION: When receiving an authentication request (S2) based on user ID input (S1), an authentication server 1 generates a matrix 100 (S3), and determines an authentication generation N (S4). The matrix 100 and the authentication generation N are notified to a user terminal device 3. The user terminal device 3 displays the matrix (S5), and accepts password input (S6), and generates a matrix of generation 1 by advancing only one step for the password, and advances the generation to the authentication generation N (S7).
