PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the use of a high cost metal rod for an auxiliary shaft by using an edge rail part of a sheet metal frame as the counter shaft in a guide unit for an optical pickup. SOLUTION: The guide unit comprises a main shaft and the countershaft for guiding movement of the optical pickup. The auxiliary shaft is formed by the edge rail 71 of the sheet metal frame 7 mounted on a chassis 6, and the edge rail 71 is formed by a rib section 71a made by folding the frame 7.
