PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing apparatus, wherein a shutter speed is appropriately set in accordance with not only an object field brightness but also an object. SOLUTION: The photographing apparatus is provided with an infrared sensor IFS for detecting infrared light emitted from the object. When the infrared light more than a prescribed amount is detected by the infrared sensor, it is determined that there is high probability that the object is a moving body, then, the shutter speed calculated in accordance with the object field brightness is changed to a high-speed side (step S3015). Further, an F value is changed so as to obtain appropriate exposure, if the light amount is insufficient, irrespective of the change in F value, the sensitivity is increased (S3016).
