PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage container not requiring a large upper space for opening and closing and hardly causing the diffusion of the odor of the garbage stored therein and the dispersion of garbage. SOLUTION: This garbage container comprises a storage part 10 having an upper opening 10a, a slat shutter 12 opening and closing the upper opening by moving along the upper opening 10a, and a depression part 14b. When the depression part is depressed, the slat shutter opens the upper opening. With the depression part depressed, the upper opening is maintained in an open state. The depression part and the slat shutter are so linked that when the depression of the depression part is released, the slat shutter closes the upper opening and the depression part is returned to the original position.
