PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording device solving the problem that the recording head is stained due to accumulation of an ink in a cap to give bad influence on printing. SOLUTION: This inkjet recording device performs the recording on a recording medium by making the ink discharged from a plurality of ink discharging sections which are installed on a recording means. At the same time, the inkjet recording device is equipped with a recovering means which makes the discharging performance of the ink discharging sections recovered. The recovering means includes a capping means which performs the capping of the recording head, and a suction member which sucks in the ink. The ink discharging section has a preliminary discharging means which performs a preliminary discharge to the capping means. The preliminary discharging means controls the position at which the preliminary discharge is performed in order so that the ink may penetrate almost the total region in the width direction within the capping means.
