The device has a computing device (2) by which locally attendant participants (P1-P3) are connected with remote participants (P4, P5) by a data link (8). The computing device has a processor (3) and a display device (5) on which the remote participants and the locally attendant participants of the remote discussion are graphically represented. A separate signaling device (20) for delivering a signal is provided for one participant. A detector (11) detects the delivered signal, and the computing device evaluates the signal. An independent claim is also included for a method for participating in remote discussions with multiple participants.
