An apparatus for automatically rotating a screen of a display device and a method therefor are provided to grasp a position of a viewer and rotate a rotary stand to fit the center of a screen of a TV receiver with the viewing position of the viewer. A rotatable stand mounts a display device(100). A control unit(320), embedded in the stand, judges the operation of the display device and a position state of a screen of the display device. When the control unit judges that the display device is operated, a sensing device(310) senses the motion of a viewer. A rotating device rotates the stand to fit a position of the viewer sensed in the sensing device with a position of the screen of the display device. The control unit controls the rotating device to correspond to the position of the viewer sensed in the sensing device.
