A door closure inspection device for an automobile has a first light emit ting/receiving device (11) provided in a finished-automobile inspection line for inspecting finished automobiles while conveying them, a pair of door cl osing devices (21) arranged downstream of the first light emitting/receiving device (11), a second light emitting/receiving device (12) placed downstrea m of the door closing devices, a pair of distance measurement sensors (13) a rranged downstream of the second light emitting/receiving device (12), a con trol device (14) to which the first light emitting/receiving device (11), th e second light emitting/receiving device (12), the door closing devices (21) , the distance measurement sensors (13), and a drive source control device ( 17) for a conveyor are connected. When a predetermined time elapses after th e first light emitting/receiving device (11) detects a vehicle body, the doo r closure devices (21) operates to close opened doors, and when a predetermi ned time elapses after the second light emitting/receiving device (12) detec ts the vehicle body, the distance measurement sensors (13) operate to measur e the distance to the side faces of the vehicle body.
