Height adjustment device for wheel suspensions in motor vehicles

The device has an adjustment unit connected between a spring seat (30) of a bearing spring (12) and a wheel suspension unit. The adjustment unit exhibits a pressurizable fluid chamber with a setting piston that causes different level position for a carriage of the motor vehicle during the pressurization of the fluid chamber. The adjustment unit is attached to a step switching system (18), where the step switching system maintains the level position, which is adjusted by the pressurization of the fluid chamber, during the flowing depressurized fluid chamber. An independent claim is also included for a method for height adjustment of a carriage of a motor vehicle in different level positions with a height adjustment device.
