Method for measuring electromagnetic radiation in instruments for air and space travel

The method involves adjusting parameters of signal processing chain (1) of detectors (11) in a targeted manner such that one detector is adjusted to a dynamic range for a maximum signal level of electromagnetic radiation (2) to be expected. The other detector is adjusted to a reduced dynamic range for small and middle signal levels, in order to obtain a higher signal to noise ratio (SNR) in the dynamic ranges. One of the detectors differs in its dimensions of an active surface from the remaining detectors.
