摘要 An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device and a method for driving the same are provided to generate high brightness by utilizing a hot cathode fluorescent lamp having high brightness. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes a data converter(50), beam sources(L1,L2), an LCD panel(53), a data driver(51), and a beam source driver. The data converter generates m data from l data for reproducing different colors from one another. The beam sources generate color beams corresponding to the l data. The LCD panel includes plural pixels for reproducing data from plural data lines under control of plural gate lines, and includes first and second sub-pixels which one pixel penetrates different color beams. The data driver sequentially supplies data to be displayed in first and second sub-pixels to the data lines based on time division. The beam source driver sequentially drives the beam sources according to the time division. The beam sources include a hot cathode fluorescent lamp.
