A chain link comprises a first part 1 which defines the majority of the circumference of the link is formed with a pair of spaced facing ends 5,6 which possess a gap 4 between them. Inserted and secured in said gap is a second part 2 which has a pair of opposite ends which abut the respective facing ends 5,6 of the first part 1, thereby filling the gap and providing a link with circumferential continuity. The ends of said first and second sections may have complimentary interlocking formations 7,8,9,10 which could be of the key and keyway type, and which may be tapered. The sections 1,2 may also be secured using adhesive. The second section may be denser than the first, and both sections may be metal castings. A decorative chain (see figure 6) comprising a plurality of said links arranged in alternate may be assembled from a kit of parts. |
