<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-quality image which shows the outstanding color development properties and glossiness of a recorded matter, in an ink jet recording process. <P>SOLUTION: Data are recorded by applying a clear ink composition which contains water, a cationic resin and a polymer fine particle and does not contain a colorant and a color ink composition containing a colorant to a recording medium respectively. The polymer fine particle is preferably emulsified in the clear ink composition and of an average particle diameter of 70 nm or more.
