A backlight assembly of an LCD is provided to laminate an optical sheet in a space prepared by a protrusion formed along a girth of an upper surface of a light guide plate to minimize the amount that heat generated from a lamp is transmitted to the optical sheet, thereby minimizing bending of the optical sheet or induction of wrinkles. A lamp housing(202) surrounds a lamp(201). In the lamp housing, an opening is formed. A light guide plate(203) is located to be adjacent to the opening. An optical sheet(204) is laminated in an upper surface of the light guide plate. A protrusion(203a) is formed in an upper surface of the light guide plate. At least a part of the protrusion is disposed between the lamp housing and the optical sheet. The protrusion is formed along a girth of the upper surface of the light guide plate. |
