A liquid crystal display device and a method for driving the same are provided to change voltage applied to a source electrode into threshold voltage of a sensor thin film transistor to drop the photoelectric change efficiency of the sensor thin film transistor, and to prevent the change in quality of the scanning signal while data voltage is transferred to lead out circuits, thereby improving the sensing accuracy. A liquid crystal display device comprises a first transparent insulating substrate, gate and data lines, lead out lines, a display part, a sensor part, and a switch part(115). The gate and data lines are crossed on the first transparent insulating substrate to define sub pixels. The lead out lines are horizontal to the data lines. The display part is formed at a crossed area between the gate and data lines. The sensor part detects light projected from the outside and outputs current. The switch part is formed between the sensor part and the lead out lines to transfer the current from the sensor part to the lead out lines. Voltage inputted to the sensor part is variable. The sensor part includes a sensor thin film transistor(114a) and a storage(114b). |
