A method for moving a rights object, a portable storage device, and a device for moving the rights object are provided to perform an error correction process while the rights object is moved between a device and the portable storage device. The device installs the copy of the original rights object into the portable storage device. The device receives a response message from the portable storage unit when the copy of the original rights object is installed correctly into the portable storage device. The device sets a disapproval state of the original rights object in order to prevent the consumption of the original rights object. The device removes the original rights object.
