An image forming apparatus is provided to contact metal material, for charging a press roller, with a shaft and charge the surface of the press roller indirectly through a conductive unit of an elastic layer and the shaft, thereby basically preventing the press roller from being damaged by the metal material. An image forming apparatus comprises a shaft(121), an elastic layer(122) disposed in the outside of the shaft, and a press roller(120) having a release layer(123) surrounding the elastic layer. The shaft and the release layer are made from conductive material. The elastic layer comprises a non-conductive unit(122b) and a conductive unit(122a). One side of the conductive unit is contacted with the shaft, and the other side is contacted with the release layer. The conductive unit is made from conductive material so as to electrically connect the shaft with the release layer.
