APPARATUS AND METHOD DRIVING OF LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

An apparatus and a method for driving an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device are provided to suppress residual currents by displaying an original frame or two frames converted from the original frame according to motion and still pictures. An apparatus for driving an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes a liquid crystal panel(2), a system(12), and a panel driver(10). The system outputs source data having different frame frequencies according to the setting of user or the type of images. The panel driver converts the source data supplied from the system into a data signal having a fixed frame frequency and displays images corresponding to the converted data signal on the liquid crystal panel. The system includes a graphic module and an image detecting unit. The graphic module generates the source data and supplies the source data and a synchronous control signal to the panel driver according to image types corresponding to an image detecting signal. The image detecting unit generates the image detecting signal by determining whether the source data is motion or still pictures.
