A method and an apparatus for providing a service in a communication system are provided to supply an optimum service for providing an optimum transmission rate and minimizing price, delay and bit error rate to a user, thereby improving communication satisfaction and minimizing waste of resources. A base station determines a sub frame ratio by communication service mode by reflecting a communication resource request amount of a user within a cell, and determines a super frame structure(700). By reflecting the super frame structure, the base station generates a super frame preamble and a broadcast channel(705). The base station generates a channel according to each sub frame(710). The base station transmits the whole super frame(715).
