A magnetic domain wall apparatus using a magnetic field applying part and a memory device using the same are provided to achieve high integration density by moving the domain wall of a magnetic layer in low current density. A magnetic layer(11) has a number of magnetic domains(D). A current applying part(12,13) is formed on both sides of the magnetic layer and applies a current to the magnetic layer. A magnetic field applying part(14) is formed on one side of the magnetic layer and applies magnetic field to the magnetic layer. The magnetic field applying part applies 10 0e or several thousands 0e to the magnetic layer. The magnetic field applying part is formed with a permanent magnet.
