A surface light source device is provided to have the excellent assembly property, vibration-resistant property and impact-resistant property without increasing the manufacturing process. A light source supporting member(1) supports a light source. A light guide panel(3) has a light emitting surface(3b) for emitting the light beam irradiated from the light source. A rear frame(8) supports the light guide panel. A middle frame(7) is overlapped with a surface opposite to a side of the light source supporting member. A side of the light guide panel is located oppositely to the side of the light source supporting member. The middle frame is also has a connection member(7c) connected with the rear frame within the thickness of the rear frame. The connection member of the middle frame is constructed by a convex portion combined tightly with a concave portion formed at a side of the rear frame.
