A plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided to effectively prevent the erroneous operation of circuits by applying a voltage higher than the lowest voltage to first electrodes of panel capacitors. During a reset period, a waveform for initializing discharge cells is applied. During an address period, a waveform for selecting cells to be generated discharge among the discharge cells is applied. During a sustain period, a waveform for generating discharge is applied to the selected discharge cells. During a reset period, the lowest first voltage(VscL) among voltages, which are applied to the first electrodes(Y) during the address period, and a second voltage(VscH) are alternately applied to the first electrodes.
