An electrode for a fuel cell, a membrane electrode assembly for a fuel cell containing the electrode, and a fuel cell system containing the electrode are provided to improve hydrogen ion conductivity and water repelling property, thereby increasing the output power of a fuel cell system. An electrode for a fuel cell comprises an electrode base modified with a hydrogen ion conductive functional group and a hydrophobic functional group; and a catalyst layer. Preferably the hydrogen ion conductive functional group is represented by R1-Q or R2-C(=O)-O-(CH2-O)n-CH3, wherein R1 is a C1-C10 linear or branched alkenyl group, a C3-C10 cycloalkyl group, a C6-C18 aryl group, or their combination; Q is SO3M, COOM, OH, -PO3M or their combination; M is H, Na, Mg or their combination; R2 is a C3-C10 cycloalkyl group, a C6-C18 aryl group, or their combination; and n is an integer of 1-5. |
