The method involves measuring an instantaneous rotational speed (Vv) of a crankshaft. Control of a load (8) e.g. electrically heated rear window, supplied by an electric generator (6) is deduced to adapt to the instantaneous rotational speed of a rotor of the generator such that a strand of a belt drives the rotor. A deceleration of the crankshaft is determined to determine the load control by deducing power to be provided by the generator and to be absorbed by the load to decelerate the rotor.
