A method and an apparatus for transmitting a streaming service in a portable terminal are provided to transmit a receivable streaming service to the other terminal during a video call, thereby enabling a terminal incapable of receiving the streaming service to receive and reproduce streaming data from the other terminal during the video call. A transmitting terminal(402) receives streaming service information from a streaming service server(400) when an event for sharing a streaming service with a receiving terminal(412,414). The transmitting terminal selects a specific streaming service out of a streaming service list and requests the receiving terminal to accept the transmission of the streaming service(416,418). The receiving terminal transmits a signal of the acceptance of the streaming service transmission to the transmitting terminal(420). The transmitting terminal receives the selected streaming service from the streaming service server(422). The transmitting terminal encodes the data of the received streaming service in a format suitable for a video call protocol and transmits the encoded streaming service to the receiving terminal(424,428).
