Non-sequence complementary antiviral oligonucleotides

Use of at least one oligonucleotide comprising at least one phosphorothioated linkage, wherein the oligonucleotide does not have an antiviral activity occurring by a sequence complementary mode of action, and wherein said oligonucleotide is at least 29 nucleotides in length, in the manufacture of a pharmacological formulation for the prophylaxis or treatment of a viral infection. Also disclosed is the use of said oligonucleotides for treating or preveting cancer caused by oncoviruses.
