The method involves displacing a mass (m) of a determined weight (P), coupled to a wheel, from center (o) of a wheel (1) e.g. front wheel, of a motor vehicle and along radial and horizontal directions. Distance (D) is measured from the mass to the center of the wheel at a time where the wheel is started to turn-around in a reference angular position. Thread friction torque is obtained by multiplying the measured distance with the weight of the mass. An independent claim is also included for a device for measuring thread friction torque on a wheel of a motor vehicle, comprising a calibrated scale fixed to a wheel.
