Disclosed are methods for inhibiting cancerous growth of a cell using an antibody or an antigen-binding portion thereof which binds to an epitope of EphB4 polypeptide. Purified antibodies of EphB4 are also provided. Also disclosed are methods of identifying agents that can inhibit cancerous growth of a cell.
