A puffer circuit breaker with reduced puffer volume pressure is provided to reduce a tendency of a supersonic flow inside a nozzle and energy required for drive of switching operation by maintaining pressure inside a puffer volume low when opening the circuit breaker under a low load condition. A puffer circuit breaker includes a puffer chamber, a first contact assembly(1), a second contact assembly(2), and a support unit(3). The second contact assembly is movably connected to the support unit. A puffer volume(9) is formed between the support unit and the movable contact assembly. At least one filling valve(16) allows a gas flow to the puffer volume in expansion of the puffer volume. The filling valve is closed by at least one closing member(18). The closing member is inclined toward a direction of the gas flow from the puffer volume so that the filling valve is opened while pressure inside the puffer volume is below a predetermined threshold.
