Disclosed is the use, in the manufacture of a medicament for treating a disease in a mammal on a low calcium diet without developing hypercalcemia caused by bone calcium mobilisation, of an effective amount of a bone calcium resorption inhibitor chosen from the list disclosed in the specification, and an effective toxic dose sufficient to treat the disease of a vitamin D compound according to formula I disclosed in the specification.
