PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescence element arrange to achieve prolongation of lifetime through improvement of an electron transportation layer. SOLUTION: Between two opposing electrodes 1 and 2, an organic light emitting layer 3 formed by adding a light emitting dopant to a host material and an electron transportation layer 5 are provided. At a part of the electron transportation layer 5 touching at least the organic light emitting layer 3, a mixture layer 6 of the principal component of the electron transportation layer 5, the host material of the organic light emitting layer 3, and an organic semiconductor material having an ionization potential above that of the principal component of the electron transportation layer 5 or an ionization potential above that of the host material of the organic light emitting layer 3 and different from the host material of the organic light emitting layer 3 is provided.
