PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop a valve in a valve-closing state without complicating a structure nor increasing the size thereof, in a variable valve gear allowing an angle of action of a valve to be varied, in relation to a variable valve gear. SOLUTION: The angle of action of a valve is varied by moving a slider roller 22 arranged between a slider surface 20 of a rocking arm 18, and a drive cam 14. In the rocking arm 18, a lost motion part 38 formed with a depressed surface relative to a hypothetical extension line 40 of the slider surface 20 is formed in front of the slider surface 20. By moving the slider roller 22 to a valve stop position where the slider roller 22 contacts the lost motion part 38, the contact position between a locker roller and a rocking arm surface stays within a non-action surface even when the rocking arm 18 rocks, and a valve stop state is achieved.
