The method involves transporting plastic in a surface coolant e.g. surface water, and mixing a gaseous medium e.g. air, with the coolant. The plastic is discharged as a fusion-liquid plastic strand (1) from a nozzle (2). The plastic strand is allowed to move together with the coolant along a cooling path (3) e.g. bent channel. The plastic is withdrawn as plastic granulates (11) i.e. polycarbonate containing plastic granulate, from a strand granulator (4), at a moderate temperature. The granulates are allowed to move along with the coolant via a downstream cooling track (12) e.g. pipe. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a plastic strand granulation device (2) a plastic strand granulation system.
