The standing support, principally used in operating theaters in hospitals, has an under frame (2) which rests on the floor and a removable or fixed standing surface a scissor formation (3) connected to both the under frame and the standing surface. The under frame is provided with wheels so that the standing support is easy to move. Possibly, the under frame or the upper frame (1) or both can be provided with hand grips. The standing support is further provided with hand grips. The standing support is further provided with an adjustment device (4), in the form of a foot operated hydraulic cylinder. In the folded inward state the under frame and upper frame rest on each other and both scissor parts lower into the profile parts of the frames. In this way, the standing support when inwardly folded is compact, flat and stable so that a minimum standing height of around 5 cm can be achieved. In this state, the adjustment device lowers within the frames.
