The present invention relates to nucleotide and protein sequences of epir egulin and epiregulin like proteins and nucleotides and methods employing th em as a drug response marker in inflammatory conditions. The invention also provides epiregulin protein for treatment of inflammatory conditions like ps oriasis and rheumatoid arthritis alone or in combination with one or more an ti-inflammatory compounds.
