<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve automatic transition of a function mode depending on the usage status of a user. <P>SOLUTION: A control section 12 switches the function mode of a composite machine 10 as required, depending on mode setting information which has been set. A log collecting processing section 14 sequentially registers the details of execution of image processing to be executed by an image processing executing section 13 into a log information accumulating section 18. An optimization processing section 15 specifies the utilization tendency of a user by analyzing the log information, and determines a function mode to be set in the composite machine 10 and a period when the function mode is set so as to meet the specified utilization tendency.
