PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display device with high display quality in which contrast is improved by stacking two or more liquid crystal panels and luminance irregularity of liquid crystal panels is improved. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 100 comprises optically stacked liquid crystal panels (a first panel and a second panel), in which image data based on the same image source are sent to the respective liquid crystal panels. In a plurality of liquid crystal panels stacked, a color liquid crystal panel is placed as the outermost surface liquid crystal panel, while a monochromatic liquid crystal panel is placed as at least another liquid crystal panel. The monochromatic liquid crystal panel is equipped with a grayscale correcting unit 423 (a correcting means) to correct a grayscale value to a threshold or lower than that when an inputted grayscale value of a pixel within a pixel unit exceeds the threshold.
