PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing calcium silicate by which calcium silicate can be produced by an autoclave treatment at a low temperature, in which a low cost organic fiber can be used. SOLUTION: When calcium silicate is produced by reacting a calcareous raw material and a siliceous raw material in an autoclave, a calcareous raw material containingγ-C<SB>2</SB>S is used and the reaction is performed at a temperature of 100-170°C.
