PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underwater sailing body suitable for performing a continuous observation for a long period by staying in the same observation sea area without being moored, with remarkably little energy consumption required for moving a machine body, a comparatively simple constitution and high mechanical reliability. SOLUTION: This underwater sailing body 1 is formed to be movable in all circumferential directions without limiting the bow direction, and is constituted to move by gliding in the water. A buoyancy adjusting mechanism 30 (30A) for adjusting buoyancy of the underwater sailing body 1 and a gravity center moving mechanism 20 (20A) for moving a gravity center position of the underwater sailing body 1 are mounted on the underwater sailing body 1. Levitation is performed by an increase of buoyancy of the underwater sailing body 1, diving is performed by a decrease of buoyancy of the underwater sailing body 1, and a moving direction is changed according to moving of the gravity center position of the underwater sailing body 1.
