PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the performance from decreasing even when a power saving mode and an operation mode are repeated. SOLUTION: The ink-jet recorder comprises a feeding part 310 which takes in recording papers 250 one by one, a conveying part 320 which conveys the taken recording paper, a recording head which ejects the ink to the recording paper, a carriage moving mechanism which moves a carriage 260 that moves the recording head back and forth, and a control part 360 which executes the operation mode of recording an image to the recording paper according to an indication inputted from outside, and the power saving mode of waiting while reducing the power consumption by shutting each of the other parts from a power supply leaving a part that detects the indication from outside when a period of time without the indication inputted from outside continues for longer than a predetermined time. The control part carries out measurement procedures of measuring an operation condition dependent on an environmental condition of the recorder in the return movement. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
