PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interchangeable lens in which a memory means having appropriate capacity can be mounted at any time even if necessary lens data capacity is different according to the kind of an interchangeable lens, and memory control on a camera body side is easily performed even if the capacity of the mounted memory means is different, and to provide a lens data communication method. SOLUTION: The interchangeable lens has a communication function for communicating lens information with the camera body to which it is attachably/detachably attached is equipped with a logic IC which mediates communication with the camera body, and a memory means which is formed separately from the logic IC, and connected to the logic IC and in which information on the interchangeable lens is stored.
