PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device capable of correctly stopping a traveling car to the level of a car with a person being locked therein in an elevator in which two cars elevating/lowering in the same hoistway adjacent to each other can be stopped at the same level in the hoistway. SOLUTION: When a lock-in is detected, the light is emitted from a floodlight 5 of a photoelectric device 4 provided in one car 1, the drivable car 1 is allowed to travel, and the drivable car 1 is stopped when a light receiver 6a of a photoelectric device 4a provided in the other car 1a receives the light from the floodlight 5.
