The car seat has a seat part (1) and a folding backrest (2) which can be additionally moved to the front edge (1.1) or to the rear edge (1.2) as required and used from both sides (2.1). Several inflatable chambers (3) are positioned at the seat area (1) as well as at the backrest (2) to be filled with air or a suitable fluid in order to adjust the respective part (1,2) to the new position of use. The change can be performed by an electrically operated mechanism. An independent claim is given for a method for changing the shape of the seat.
