<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the driving safety of a vehicle immediately after the start of driving the vehicle by reflecting sleep of a driver before the start of driving, in a vehicle control system. <P>SOLUTION: When the vehicle is stopped, the seat angle of a driver position is detected, and based on the detected seat angle, it is detected whether the driver took sleep during the vehicle stop (step 100). Then, on detecting that the driver took sleep during the vehicle stop, immediately after the start of vehicle driving, an operation mode of an onboard system, which controls an inter-vehicle distance between its own-vehicle and a preceding vehicle to a target inter-vehicle distance so as to enhance driving safety, is set to a safety side, i.e. a longer target inter-vehicle distance mode as compared to the case when the sleep is not detected (step 102). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
