PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording medium which can obtain both good reproducing information from a reproduction-only pit array and good reproducing information from a guide groove for recording and reproducing, can obtain optimum tracking characteristics at all times even in unrecorded regions and can obtain optimum tracking characteristics at all times even in recorded regions by reproducing intermediate regions consisting of the pit array by a tracking system of a differential push-pull system or a phase difference system.

SOLUTION: The information recording medium is provided in which bottom surface positions of the guide grooves and the pit array formed on a disk substrate are both flat on a the same plane, and intermediate regions consisting of the pit array where the height varies between the height from the bottom surface to the side surfaces of the guide grooves and the height from the bottom surface to the side surfaces of the pit array are prepared in a switching part from the pit array to the guide grooves or from the guide grooves to the pit array.
